How does it keep cool?
The Hush Iced 2.0 Cooling Weighted Blanket is made with viscose bamboo, an organic material that is naturally cool to the touch, moisture-wicking, and light and airy. It draws away heat and moisture, evaporating it and cooling the body the same way sweating does.
The breathable fabric helps reduce night sweats, and its antibacterial properties means it doesn’t absorb any moisture or smell. Since it’s always colder than room temperature it’s always pleasant to touch, helping you stay comfortable instead of waking up due to overheating during the night.
How do I wash it?
All our covers are easily removable and machine-washable. Simply unzip, put it in a cold wash, and hang dry for best results! And if hang dry isn't an option, no worries: try tumble dry on low heat. Even better, the naturally antibacterial fabric keeps away smells and bacteria, so it stays cleaner longer. Plus, it resists wrinkles, doesn’t pill, and gets softer with each wash.
As for the inner weighted insert: it won’t need cleaning as often as the cover, but is still cleanable! We recommend hand-washing, and then hang to dry.
What if I’m sharing a bed?
No problem: our Queen or King size blankets are more than enough for two! Or, if you and your partner have significantly different weights, you can also try getting individual Teen or Twin size blankets with different weights, to ensure max comfort for you both.
What exactly is viscose bamboo, and how is it eco-friendly?
A big part of what makes viscose bamboo so good is that, as you might suspect, it's made from bamboo. Bamboo is incredibly fast growing, tall, and regrows once cut, meaning it doesn't need to be re-planted once harvested. Both these facts make it a highly renewable resource, and means it doesn't take up as much space as a typical cotton crop might.
It also requires little to no pesticides or fertilizers and uses little water, minimizing negative environmental impact from crops. Common crops like cotton are infamously water-hungry, resulting in the diversion and draining of natural water resources in many countries. They also require more pesticides and other agrochemicals, negatively impacting the environment in and around the crop. Bamboo's ability to thrive with little interference, and its impressive ability to regrow, makes it a very sustainable crop.
'Viscose' refers to the process that makes bamboo into cloth. Cellulose is extracted from the bamboo in chips, and then treated with solvents to break it down into something that can be spun into fiber. The solution used to treat those chips is called a 'viscose' solution.
How are Hush's blankets different?
There are a few ways our blankets are different from other weighted blankets. First, we've got the highest range of size, weights, and cover options in all of Canada. We're conscientious with our materials and make, so you get quality as well as options. We do our best to use environmentally friendly and sustainable materials whenever we can, which benefits you as well as the environment, as we make sure to make our products non-toxic.
Many weighted blankets use plastic pellets for their weighted inserts. These are usually overlarge, making for a clunky and uncomfortable blanket, noisy, and made with toxic materials. Ours uses glass sand; fully non-toxic, heat-dissipating, and very quiet.
We make sure it gets distributed evenly over your body no matter how you toss and turn by putting it into small 4-inch pockets, so the weight can't get shoved all to one side if you're a particularly restless sleeper. We also sewed a soft inner layer into these pockets, to further dampen any sound and make our blankets perfectly silent.
With more than 100,000 reviews, our blankets are some of the best weighted blankets out there. Our attention to detail and priority on making a quality product carries over to everything we make, and we think you can feel the difference.
How does a weighted blanket help?
The gentle, even pressure of a weighted blanket mimics a therapeutic technique called Deep Pressure Stimulation (DPS). This technique relaxes your nervous system, slowing your breathing, heart rate, and lowering your blood pressure. This relaxation alleviates anything keeping you up — whether that’s stress, anxiety, or anything else — and helps you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and feel rested when you wake up. It works for everyone, but is particularly useful for individuals with:
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Restless Leg Syndrome
Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
