Introducing The Only True King Size and Queen Size Weighted Blankets

A woman sleeping on her side tucked in a Hush Classic weighted blanket.

Most weighted blanket companies say they offer queen- and king-sized weighted blankets, but the dimensions don’t add up. For example, some companies offer a one-size-fits-all queen weighted blanket, but the entire blanket is only 60” x 80”. That’s the exact same size as the TOP of a queen mattress. So the blanket will essentially sit awkwardly on top of the bed, instead of draping around it.

Most companies excuse their design by saying all the weight needs to be on top of you, not on the sides of the bed. But we don’t think that’s a good excuse. We think you should have a blanket that looks great on your bed and gives you all the benefits of deep pressure therapy.

This is why we decided to make real king and queen size weighted blankets. At Hush, we’ve got you covered – literally. Read on to learn about the Hush king and queen size weighted blankets, how to choose the right amount of weight for your weighted blanket, and some other special features.

The Only True King and Queen Size Weighted Blankets: Hush

Hush Classic Weighted Blanket

A woman sitting in bed with a grey Hush Classic weighted blanket wrapped around her shoulders.

When we set out to make our first weighted blanket, the Hush Classic, our goal was to make a higher quality blanket with a wider range of size options than any other weighted blanket.

The Hush Classic has five size options: twin, queen, two different king options, and teen. Unlike most other weighted blankets, these are made to drape over the side of the bed. For instance, the twin Hush blanket is 60 inches by 80 inches, but a standard twin mattress is only 38 inches by 75 inches. It’s even big enough for a full size mattress.

A standard queen mattress is 60 inches by 80 inches, and the queen Hush blanket is 80 inches by 87 inches, giving you plenty of extra blanket to hang off the bed. The two king sized weighted blanket options are 90 inches by 90 inches or 94 inches by 96 inches, both longer and wider than either a standard king mattress or a California king mattress.

Finally, the teen option is great for personal use or as a throw blanket. At 48 inches by 78 inches, it’s the smallest Hush weighted blanket option, but it’s still large enough to fully cover most people.

Hush Iced 2.0 Weighted Blanket

Co-founders Lior Ohayon and Aaron Spivak holding the Hush Iced weighted blanket.

Our Hush Iced 2.0 weighted blankets are hands-down the best cooling weighted blankets on the market. If you’re a hot sleeper, this is the perfect weighted blanket for you. The duvet cover is cool to the touch, made from organic bamboo. It’s very soft, and it’s also antimicrobial. More on this later.

The Hush Iced 2.0 weighted blanket includes all the same size options as the Hush Classic, so we won’t go through those again. In general, though, we recommend going with a twin or teen for personal use. As we’ve seen, the twin is big enough to be used on a queen size bed. It’ll just reach the edges without hanging off.

The queen size weighted blankets and king size weighted blankets are meant to be shared. These are a great option if you sleep on a queen or king size mattress with a partner: With so much extra room, you’ll have no need to fight over the blanket.

Additionally, as with the Hush Classic, the Hush Iced 2.0 also comes in a few different weight sizes. The twin, queen, and king size weighted blankets offer two different weight options, so you can choose the right amount of weight for your needs. We’ll go into more detail about how to do this in the next section.

The Right Weight for Your King or Queen Size Weighted Blanket

A couple looking at each other while tucked under a shared white blanket in bed.

Now that we’ve seen some examples of king and queen size weighted blankets, let’s talk about how to find the right weight. We recommend getting a blanket that’s roughly 10% of your body weight, or if you sleep with a partner, 10% of your and your partner’s combined weight.

For instance, if you weigh 150 pounds, you’d ideally get a 15-pound weighted blanket. Or if you weigh 200 pounds, you’d look for a 20-pound weighted blanket. Or if you weigh 150 pounds and your partner weighs 200 pounds, a 35-pound weighted blanket would be best for you both to share.

At Hush, we offer a variety of different weights: 12 pounds, 15 pounds, 20 pounds, 25 pounds, 30 pounds, or 35 pounds. However, note that not all weights are available for all sizes. As a general rule, larger size weighted blankets are going to weigh more. For our twin, queen, and king size weighted blankets, we give you two options, but the teen has just one option.

If you have strong preferences for the blanket weight, this will influence what size you’re able to get. For instance, if you prefer a lighter blanket, you probably won’t want to get either of the king size weighted blankets (which are 30 pounds or 35 pounds).

It’s also worth considering your own personal preferences regarding the weight of the blanket. These are just meant to be general guidelines. For instance, you know you want a heavy blanket, go for it! There’s no harm in trying a different weight than what’s recommended.

Why Choose Hush?

Our Hush weighted blankets come in a wide variety of sizes and weights, but this is far from the only benefit of choosing Hush. We set out to create the best weighted blanket on the market, and with thousands of 5-star reviews, we’re confident we’ve achieved our goal. Every feature of our blankets is designed to help you get more restful sleep.

Soft, Snuggly Fabric

For our Hush Classic weighted blanket, we use an incredibly soft, “minky” threading that feels a bit like faux fur. Customers describe the feeling as velvety, and some say it’s like a cloud. Overall, they love the soft fabric, and they say the blanket helps them fall asleep in minutes.

Meanwhile, for the Hush Iced 2.0, we tested hundreds of cooling fabrics. In the end, we chose a revolutionary type of fabric made from organic bamboo, harvested at just the right time of year to fully unleash its cooling properties. This is the most cooling weighted blanket you’ll find, and it is also very soft to the touch.

The fabrics are also very breathable, made with a loose weave to allow heat to escape from your body. While the average weighted blanket traps your body heat, the Hush blankets are made with tiny gaps in the fabric to let air flow through. Additionally, the bamboo fabric in the Hush Iced 2.0 is moisture-wicking. It will draw sweat away from you, keeping you cool and dry.

Even Weight Distribution

Most weighted blanket companies use small glass beads to give the blankets their weight. But there’s no standardized size for these glass beads, and some are larger than others. Depending on the size and type of filling, the weights can clump together and make for a very lumpy blanket. This is especially likely to happen if you’re a side sleeper (which most people are).

At Hush, we set out to make a weighted blanket with the most even weight distribution possible. Instead of glass beads, we use glass sand, which is much finer. To make sure it stays evenly distributed, we sew it into individual pockets inside the blanket using a specialized machine we commissioned just for this purpose.

Meanwhile, other brands spray a sticky coating on the inside of their blankets in order to trap beads in place. It’s much less precise, and the materials are often toxic. We didn’t want any toxic materials in our blankets at all, even if they’re confined to the inside. Our method is both more effective and much safer.

In fact, many weighted blanket companies will tell you that weighted blankets are supposed to be smaller than regular blankets, in part because they might fall off the bed if they hang over the side. But this is only a real concern if the blanket doesn’t have good weight distribution: If part of it is hanging off the bed, that’s where all the loose beads will want to go.

With the Hush weighted blankets, you don’t have to worry about the blanket slipping off the bed. The even weight distribution will keep it in place as much as a regular blanket, with no clumping or sagging. So you don’t have to size down when you go with Hush. Go ahead and get a blanket that’ll hang off the sides of your bed, if that’s what you like.

100-Night Sleep Guarantee

We realize it can be hard choosing a weighted blanket online without being able to try it first. So, we want to give you the option of just trying it. At Hush, we offer a 100-Night Sleep Guarantee: You can send your Hush weighted blanket back for a full refund up to 100 days after you first try it. So, if you don’t love it, go ahead and send it back – no questions asked.

We also offer free shipping for most of the US and Canada. And your blanket will arrive wrapped in a beautiful box with a bowtie, making this a perfect gift to send directly to someone you love.

If you have any questions at all, we’re happy to help. You can take a quiz on our website to figure out which of our many options is right for you, and we also offer a live chat feature where you can ask any questions you may still have about our mattresses (or any of our other sleep products).
